what takes 10 minutes and 65 Euros? ... was kostet 65 Euro und 10 minuten Zeit?

Before the new brakes will be fitted I visited the TÜV today. The engineer (in his 30's) was blown away and claimed he had never seen this type of car on the road before. After a check of the brakes and the lights as well as a short inspection of the (spotless) chassis, he gave his o.k. and put the new sticker on!
No issues or advises!

Bevor die neue Bremse montiert wird wollte ich mir noch mal den "Segen" für 2 Jahre holen. Der DEKRA-Prüfer (so um die 30) war richtig begeistert und sagte das er dieses Auto noch nie auf der Strasse gesehen hat! Nach einem kurzen Lichttest, der Bremsenprüfung und einem flüchtigen Blick unter das Auto gab es die neue Plakette zusammen mit ein paar anerkennenden Worten! Ergebnis: ohne Mängel :-)

I refurbed the rare 90'ies tuning rear brake kit from CSP (iirc): Type 3 rear drum brakes with 5x130 mm (Porsche-)PCD with mating hubs (found them during last years Maikäfertreffen in Hannover):

Ich habe schon mal die seltene CSP Typ 3 Bremse hinten mit 5x130 mm (Porsche-)Lochkreis aufgearbeitet - In den 90'ern konnte man die da mal kaufen, wenn ich mich echt erinnere... Diese habe ich auf dem Maikäfertreffen 2012 "geschossen"

In combination with the Tarox 6-pod calipers I have a lot of new opportunities, wheel-wise...
In Kombination mit der Tarox 6-Kolbenbremsanlage ergeben sich ganz neue Möglichkeiten...

... unfortunately some people do not pay proper respect! I wouldn't expect this kind of behavior from an aircooled specialist who is in the business since 1986! I would like to see how GWD reacts if I would lean against one of his cars?!?

... leider haben einige Menschen offenbar keinen Respekt vor der Arbeit anderer! So ein Verhalten hätte ich am Wenigsten von Jemandem erwartet, der selbst seit 1986 im "Käfer-Geschäft" mitmischt!
Mich würde interessieren wie GWD reagiert, wenn man sich auf einem seiner Autos "herumflätzt"!

a long treasure hunt came to an end!

During our weekend trip to the Netherlands I finally found my long sought-after personal "holy grail"
The Hot Wheels Racing 12, 6/10 Custom Volkswagen in blue on a short card!
(So far I only had 1 on a long card, "imported" from the US - as well as a few purple ones (long and short card) and 4 white ones, K-Mart-only edition)

I was searching this one since July 2012 and visited countless shops, browsing through literally thousands of Hot Wheels racks...
You can't imagine my lucky feelings when I finally found not one or two, but three!!! at one place!

I think I will open one of them. This model represents so many things I am really into:
Volkswagens, Hot Rods, Hot Wheels, red band tyres, aggressive stance, big'n little tyres....
It is my "perfect" Hot Wheel of all times so far!

Techno Classica 2013

This year the Techno Classica classic car fair in Essen Germany was again all about Ferrari, Porsche and Mercedes... On Sunday morning almost all shiny cars displayed this sign:

Auch dieses Jahr war auf der Techno Classica vor allem wieder Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes und Co vertreten. Am Sonntag Vormittag war an fast jedem Auto dieses Schild zu sehen:

As long as I don't own a diamond mine or an oil field, I can only go there and scratch my head about the prices which are displayed on these cars!
Solange ich weder eine Diamantmine oder ein Ölfeld besitze, kann ich nur über die dort aufgerufenen Preise staunen!
