Since a few days I work on the correct rocker geometry. The adjuster screw should be exactly in line with the valve stem at half lift. An adjustable push rod is required to do the job right.
As there are so many modifications compared to a standard motor, this is a difficult task, But I will get there in the end...
Currently, still not perfect @ half lift, even though I already shimmed the rocker shaft by 2 mm, I think I will have to modify the rockers like here (pic found on thesamba.com):
This modification will finally allow the exact geometry (hopefully...)
Afterwards I can shorten the CroMo push rods to the exact length.

A pricey picture = speed trapped!
Today I got mail: A speed ticket fine...
Well, luckily I am not driving like I'm out of my mind, so the amount was reasonable - the equivalent of about 3 packs of cigarettes...

Mercedes parts in a Volkswagen? Not a bad thing...
There are countless "swivel feet" or "elephant feet" valve adjusters available. Most of them I don't trust, so I rely on original German made Mercedes spare parts. Part number 102 050 02 20 is the correct one for type 1 engines:
Strong clutch for a (hopefully) strong engine...
With all the efforts I put into the engine I expect something around 110-120 hp. As this would be a little too much for the original clutch, I am going to use the tried and tested 750 kg pressure Kennedy Stage 1 set up:
The clutch is pre-balanced and really looks sturdy!
The clutch disc will be a cushion grip:
