Hallo an alle Blogleser - diesmal ausnahmsweise auf Deutsch. Nachdem im Jahr 2015 umfangreiche Umbauarbeiten auf dem Gelände der Zeche Zollverein stattfanden und daher das monatliche Oldtimertreffen dort nicht mehr stattfinden konnten, wurde nach Ersatz gesucht.

Die Organisatoren von Oldtimertreff Ruhr haben heute folgende freudige Nachricht verbreitet:
Ab sofort wird es wieder ein monatliches Treffen geben, jedoch am jeweils 3. Sonntag im Monat. Das Gelände der Zeche Ewald kennt Ihr von den diversen Youngtimertreffen usw.


Bitte beachten: Der Obulus um die Veranstaltung zu unterstützen beträgt 3 Euro:

20.3., 17.4., 15.5., 19.6., 17.7., 18.9. und 16.10.

Die Saison beginnt - endlich!

Nur noch wenige Tage, dann startet der OLDTIMERTREFF RUHR in die neue Saison. Nach dem furiosen Auftakt im Oktober 2015 auf Zeche Ewald ist es gelungen, an diesem tollen Ort die Saison 2016 wie gewohnt wieder sieben Treffen zu planen und zu finanzieren.
Allen alten und neuen Sponsoren dafür herzlichen Dank, allen voran den Machern der Motorworld, die uns großzügig unterstützen. Direkt vor Ort können wir dieses Jahr den Projektstart der MOTORWORLD ZECHE EWALD – RUHR hautnah miterleben.
Unsere Termine 2016 sind – jetzt jeweils immer am 3. Sonntag: 20. März, 17. April, 15. Mai, 19. Juni, 17. Juli, ACHTUNG: IM AUGUST IST KEIN TREFFEN, 18. September und 16. Oktober.
Um 10:00 Uhr beginnt unser kleiner familiärer Scenetreff, so gegen 15:00 Uhr endet unsere Verantwortung.
Wie gewohnt gibt es gastronomische Angebote: Currywurst, Pommes, Burger, Espresso, Kalt-Getränke aller Art usw.
Auch gibt es wieder “Treffen im Treffen” – wir starten im März mit einem E30-Treffen, im April kommen wieder die MINIs, im Juni die BMW 02, im Juli die MG und im Oktober ist ein PORSCHE-Tag.
Der Frühling ist bestellt und wir freuen uns, alle wieder zu treffen.

Today I came back from a 7 day trip to the US. A lot of work and a little shopping. For the first time I didn't bought any tools at all! The only cool thing I found is this HW Cool Classics VW Fasty in Spectrafrost red:

New year, new wheels!

Here is a first teaser of things to come...

 6x15" Fuchs replicas for the rear and 4,5x15" replicas for the front

This is the re-chromed "Heritage" center cap - it matches the color of the wheel so much better, compared to the "goldish" shine on their original parts!

Maybe I will fully detail the center caps too, later this year...

This is the final result of the "Christmas countdown calender", a nice selection of tools - especially the ratchet!

My 2015 highlights

Funilly, almost all my highlights of 2015 are connected to the "Le Bug Show" in Spa in August this year. Besides the perfect weather and the adventure to get there (with Ralf's car on a trailer for the last ~40 km) - This recovery was the first -too good to be true- scene of this weekend:

So we fixed this (for the 2nd time this year a repair job on the road - the other one on the way to Hannover was also something to be mentioned) , participated in the unbelievable parade,

met so many friends , found out that these Belgians even bring along their own mini"frituur":

and on Saturday  evening we visited the Type 3 meeting - and I (actually my car) got the Type 3 Award presented!

Later this night we fixed yet another Type 3 which fuel pump gave up, which was also a great example of the international camaradery of us -slightly crazy- aircooled VW enthusiasts - Awesome!

During Sunday we drove a few times around the race track:

... had another perfect day and a flawless journey home again later on Sunday afternoon.

I can't wait for the weekend of August 5th-7th 2016 for the next "Le Bug Show" in Spa, Belgium! 

Another highlight was the 6 page feature of my car in the October 2015 issue of Ultra VW, a special thanks to Dokke for the great pictures and Paul Knight for a damn good article!

 Even the shooting on a hot July day was great fun:

Oh - and not forgetting to mention a nice BBQ with great friends in late August! (You know who you are!)

Finally, the purchase of my first Porsche is something I want to add here - I know, it is not a real Porsche, but I like anyways!

So, thank you to all my friends involved in this hobby for having a great time whenever we meet and see you all in 2016!

Christmas countdown calendar

Well, this is my best guess for a translation of the German word: Adventskalender...
This year I have a WERA Advendskalender with real tools (for real men) :-)
24 little doors with 24 little gifts...

On December 24 a full pouch with tools will be accomplished! See low left area of the calendar pic!
