VW Euro Wanroij 2013: pics

Today we visited Wanroij for the VW Euro Meeting. Besides a 15 minute rain shower the weather was o.k. and the area for the meeting was huge, including a mud pit for the Buggies, a nice lake, big camping ground, a vendor area and so on. Here are some pics:

a pair of super nice busses:
17 inch Fuchs'ed early bay

double sliding door T1!

T1 busses on the beach

Marathonblue late model with a nice set of rims

a little too much for my taste...

I dig those wheels:

a nice contrast opposed to all the panscrapers:
(note the fresh air intakes in the doors and the roof mounted Cyclops lamp)

Albert Heijn himself was onsite as well:

rear parcel shelf: last preparations for the Wanroij VW show Netherlands

A few days ago I noticed a few bubbles/wrinkles in my rear parcel shelf. I guess I wasn't patient enough to let the glue dry before I layed the leatherette on - anyways, I had to remove and re-glue it...

Job done, looks perfect again! (I hope this time it lasts!)

So, tomorrow morning we will go to Wanroij - For more information, click here

Pics from Saturdays Beetle and Bus-Meeting in Solingen @ the TÜV Station

As usual, I made a short visit to this nice little meeting - it is always packed, as the space is limited, but I met a few friends and did my charitable donation.

this one is around for a looooong time

Here is a glimpse over the area:

a strange mixture:

a real German looker:  super clean and big brakes:
 front:
 and rear:

What a cool - and very detailed ride (for a 4 year old) - In the right corner of the pic you can see a real Type 1 front bumper for comparison

Here a few pics, especially for my friend Thomas!

I really dig how the door handle sits on the crease line,  incorporated into the upper side moulding

a really nice and rare sight!

... and talking 'bout "mustard" colored cars: Here is one of the few Bonito's I like - clean and simple on wide steelies:

... and when this "beauty" showed up, I had to leave...

... a "H" registered number plate- on such a strange thing? I couldn't believe that!

"Quality" of repop tail light seals - or: lack of it!

This weekend, during a good clean-up session I noticed the perished and fractured tail light seals:

Unfortunately, there is only 1 supplier for these reproductions, and it is basically a fraud to charge 16 Euro for a pair of seals which is wasted after ~30 days of sunlight and UV radiation!
I found 1 NOS seal in my parts stash - about 40 years old! Which is far better, I hope to find another NOS part.

pics from Sundays Meeting In Gelsenkirchen 1st Old- & Youngtimermeeting "Nordstern Klassik"

Here are only a few shots from Sundays 1st. Old- and Youngtimer Meeting in Gelsenkirchen Nordsternpark:
this is a cool overview of the wide array of cars on display: 50ties to 80ties, from VW to V8 - you name it. Old German, British and American Iron. A wide array of styles and makes/models to see. Some French junk stuff showed up as well.

 nice wheels!

Audi Coupe right beneath a Rolls Royce - there was everything you can imagine.

I still have a soft spot for the "Razoredge" Karmann Type 34!

I could show maybe 100's of pics - but the best way to distinguish classic cars is still to visit a meeting near your home! Go out, enjoy the sun (finally) and the cars + people to meet!

Big brakes installed!

This weekend I installed the 6 pod calipers and adjusted the rear brakes. It looks and brakes better than before!
Dieses Wochenende ist endlich die 6-Kolben-Bremsanlage an den Volksback gekommen. Nach dem gleichzeitigen Einstellen der hinteren Bremse ist die Bremswirkung jetzt besser als je zuvor!

The discs are grooved and vented - for continous brake power:
Die Scheiben sind genutet und innenbelüftet - für lang anhaltende Bremskraft:
Also, there are PCD's 4x130 and 5x130 drilled, for a large variety of possible wheel!
Die Scheiben haben zudem 4x130 und 5x130 Lochkreis - damit die Felgenauswahl grösser ist!
