It took a few days, but now I have working, adjustable factory- look throttle linkage for the Webers:
Special thanks to Thomas W. for fabricating the rods!
I started with the original VW linkage lever:
removed the VW ball ends:
re-drilled the holes to accept some "real" linkage pieces:
this is the finished set-up: (note, the ignition coil had to be relocated!)
The rods are LH and RH threaded, so they are easy adjustable in length, lust like a stering tie rod.
bird's eye perspective of the complete linkage:
The ignition wiring is finished as well, only a few days and the engine will meet its final destination!

Throttle linkage mock-up
I am in the final stages of the big motor. Today I fabricated a mock-up of the throttle linkage I am going to use. The Weber carbs came with a cross bar linkage with a gazillion pieces:
I prefer the simple stuff, less parts, less breakage! So, I copy the original VW set up, at first only with some RC-car stuff I had:
I will order some M5 rod ends and some aluminium rod and make a reliable throttle linkage of that soon!
