hood latches and other stuff... Haubenschlösser und anderes Zeug...

Today I mounted the hood latches front and rear. All the hardware was media blasted and zinc plated + blue passivated. They look too nice:
Heute habe ich die vorderen und hinteren Haubenschlösser eingebaut, diese wurden vorher gestrahlt, verzinkt und blau chromatiert:

also the ash tray housing looks better as new ... das Aschenbechergehäuse ist auch schöner als neu:
bling  bling!! - one plastic wheel is missing - but I don't use it anyway! Eine Führungsrolle fehlt, aber ich brauche das Teil sowieso nicht.

some more shots from the wiring job, all new rubber grommets ... und noch ein paar Aufnahmen vom Kabelbaum mit neuen Gummitüllen und Kabelschuhen:

Airboxes and wiring

I started assembly with the wiper motor and the air boxes, but when I replaced the upper seal I discovered this:

so, I visited Jens, my personal "master blaster" once more, he took care of them right away:

then I repainted them gloss black and re-sealed the seams with Sikaflex. Sorry, no pic, they are already mounted!
Here are some pics of the installed wiring harness.:
looks a bit messy but I think I know what I do...
my special hazard switch and air vent regulators fitted

wrong voltage regulator - still have to search for the right one...

washer bottle, production tag and brake fluid reservoir already installed!

it's comming home, it's comming home, it's comming, fastback's comming home

here we go:
the paint is really nice, all the waiting time finally paid off:
Der Lack sieht wirklich top aus, das Warten hat sich gelohnt:

shines like crazy - glänzt wie ein lackiertes Affenei!
the paint is flawless, some minor imperfections which will be taken care of later - I was too excited to take some pics, thanks to Ralf as allways for a helping hand and the pics as well!

beautiful Budel? rainful Budel!

Today I did a short trip to Budel in the Netherlands for the 28th edition of their VW meeting. It was really rainy throughout the weekend. They already started to tear down the swap meet and spare parts market - which I would also have done after 3 days of more or less rain...
Here are a few impressions under a gray sky:

a nice Streaker with water cooled engine:

early Fastback with cool wheels:

a cool bunch of busses:

the relatively small line-up of Type III's:
